April 2008 - Paymasters Café is a fabulous place for breakfast. It is an open air café so that even if you are sitting inside, you still have a great view of some of Newcastle's parkland and the water and you can still feel that ocean side breeze. Paymasters has a fantastic patio where you have to either be lucky or patient to get a seat on a weekend morning. The outside patio is the best seating option in good weather and if you have time to wait as the tables inside are quite closely arranged.
They have a great selection of omelettes. One of my dining partners had a veggie omelette and it was packed with vegetables and cheese. I went for the eggs and hashbrowns and I was impressed with the thick slices of fresh bread my meal was served with. We had to wait quite awhile for our food to arrive but it was a very busy Sunday morning and it was worth the wait. The atmosphere is relaxed with wicker chairs and friendly staff who apologize when your food is slow in getting to you. I would highly recommend eating at Paymasters Café for breakfast.
