| "Good choice for kids" |

by Tanya (from Calgary) May 2008 - The Hogs Breath Café is one of the more reasonably priced places in Byron Bay where you can still sit on an outside deck and have a view of the water. The building is half a block from the water so it is not exactly water front but you can still catch a glimpse of it if you are sitting on their second floor balcony. We managed to get the table with the best view, although we had to wait about 15 minutes to be seated. We had 2 small children with us and staff provided them with colouring pages and crayons as soon as we sat down. They have an excellent children’s menu with all the kid classics like burgers and chicken nuggets. The service (after our wait to be seated) was good and they were quick to get us extra napkins when one of the kids spilled their drink. I had a chicken burger and fries and they were good. The food comes in really big portions. There is nothing particularly special about how the food tastes but as it is a chain in Australia, you know what you are going to get. I suppose this is its draw for many people. The atmosphere is relaxed, the portions are big and the food and beer are reasonably priced. It’s a good choice if you have kids as it is a family restaurant and they are used to catering to children. Although the food, service and prices are fine at the Hog’s Breath Café, it is nothing special about it that would motivate me to dine there again.
