"Well established, well respected"

August 2008 - The Monte Carlo Steak & Seafood Restaurant has been a part of the Camrose landscape for quite a number of years. Situated at the intersection of Main Street and 48th Avenue, the main east-west thoroughfare through the city, it is very visible, but entering its parking lot can sometimes be difficult. ( You need to go east just past it, and then make a right turn!)
The Monte Carlo has a very extensive menu, and certainly able to satisfy more than just the steak and seafood lovers. For years, The Monte Carlo has had a Senior's Menu, and they have had good comments from people who either do not want, or can not, eat a large meal. The chicken breast with mushroom sauce was very tasty, but overcooked. There is the difficulty- being sure that chicken is well done, and not over cooked. My salad was crisp with the dressing served on the side as I like it. I chose the house dressing- you never know what is going to be served! It was a balsamic vinegar based dressing, and very sharp flavored. That being said, it was delicious in small quantities. The meal ended with hot coffee and Cosmopolitan Chocolate Cheese Cake.
The decor is attractive and suits the two levels of dining area. It was very busy and likewise a bit noisy during the noon hour we were there, but I guess that is a good sign!

"Pleasant and Professional "

August 2007 - An evening with friends in an atmosphere that is pleasant and professional makes for great dining. There was no attempt to rush the patrons. Reservations had been made which allowed us to be placed at a table by the window with a comfort zone of space around us. Good for visiting.
This restaurant makes a point of giving a regular menu and a Senior's menu. Not having to ask for that Senior's menu is a relief. Besides, portions and cost are both reduced fairly from the main menu.
The salmon, which I requested poached, was thick and juicy. Not overdone. The vegetables were steamed so that they remained fairly crisp. What a treat to have a medley of veggies including asparagus, peas in the shell, carrots, and broccoli all done to perfection with an appetizing garlic butter sauce. My friends were pleased with the deep fried seafood platter and shrimp platter. They too particularly enjoyed the vegetable serving. A choice of potatoes was available.
Key lime cheesecake was shared. Tart and fresh, the dessert topped the meal nicely as did the hot, full- flavored coffee.
The entree cost was $12.00 but you need to add in the coffee or other extras of course.
This restaurant is popular with the locals. As it is beside the highway going through town, visitors are apt to find the location attractive. Parking is a bit tight but adequate. Wheelchair accessible.
