July 2007 - There is a gem of a lunchtime spot in Millet on highway 2A that runs through town.
Millet is situated between Wetaskiwin and Leduc where an antique shop and a dress shop are renowned. Nice drive and friendly people. Quality products.
Juice Caboose Cafe and Ice Cream Bar has an exterior that does not attract much attention but the welcome is comfortable and the aroma sure proof that the food is homemade. The cafe situated on main street has seating for about 28 patrons. By choosing your own seating, you can spread out for maxim space between other seated guests. A newspaper is available for the man waiting for his shopping mate.
Homemade and fresh, the soup, sandwiches, salads and desserts make the choice of lunch a bit difficult. I had a grilled Clucking Chicken Panini with peppers, purple onion, pesto, mayo, and mozzarella cheese for $4.95. I loved the panini as it was flavorful and hot. My friend ordereda tuna pasta salad with homemade mushroom soup and garlic toast for $6.95. Good choices.
Fresh from the oven cranberry/rhubarb/orange tarts with whipping cream topped off our meal. The total with coffee for each was $19.06.
Atmosphere is not the priority though it is clean and homey, a touch of rural Alberta. Large clean washrooms are available.
