September 2007 - The Nikka Yuko Japanese Garden offers an unforgettable experience as it is an authentic, quality Japanese meditation garden where meticulously pruned trees and shrubs are the only flowering plants. The structures were handcrafted in Kyoto, Japan of aromatic yellow cypress, dismantled, and reassembled in Lethbridge without the use of nails. The bronze Friendship Bell and stone lanterns are also from Kyoto and are positioned in accordance with Japanese culture.
A host in traditional Japanese clothing greets visitors at the gate and explains the Garden's many features. Weekend programs and events highlight Japanese art and culture including the time honoured Tea Ceremony. From the first spring apple blossom to the final autumn leaf, the Garden is an oasis of tranquility. Special rates are available for tours.
