May 2008 - I was birding near Strathmore and drove into town in search of a restaurant. Rural route 252 led me right by a strip mall called Country Lane Mall. I spotted a restaurant called Roadhouse Restaurant and Saloon.
The walls were covered with posters, photos and stuffed animals. There were about 25 creatures staring at you from different angles. There were birds, bears, foxes, moose and others. I thought it was a lot of fun to check them out, but I know that some people would be put off by the sight, especially when they are about to eat. I would recommend this place for people with kids as they would have fun talking about and identifying the animals.
The food was great! It really hit the spot. I had a hot turkey sandwich which was a huge meal. The turkey was piled high on the bread and smothered in think yummy gravey. Just like mom used to make or perhaps better. My bill with coffee came to $11.85.
Other menu items were pizza, burgers, hot hamburger, sandwiches and salads. I was glad to see they have an all day breakfast as well. Seniors will appreciate the seniors menu and prices.
The servers were efficient and accommodating. When I asked about how the stuffed animals were obtained, one server went to find out more information. Apparently people just give them to the owner, and he has all the papers to make it legal.
The Roadhouse is open from 8 am to 10 pm daily.
