| "Interesting Pioneering History" |
by Janet (from Fernie) June 2008 - I was in Calgary with some family members who were visiting from England and we spent part of a day at the Heritage Park Historic Village. I usually don't take in "reconstructed" villages, etc but the Heritage Park was a good place for the UK visitors to get a sense of the pioneering history that formed Alberta and much of Canada. The stern wheeler boat ride was a bit of a disappointment but the horse-drawn wagon ride (with commentary) was interesting and informative, as were the many different houses, hotels, businesses and barns. If possible, I would recommend giving the park a miss on the weekends - I imagine it could be overrun with large groups of kids, etc - but during the week it is a pleasant place to take in some local history without having to spend the day indoors at a museum.

| "Interesting" |
by Claire (from Calgary, Alberta) July 2007 - Heritage Park is an interesting park to roam through. The old houses and buildings that make up the majority of the park are authentic to the Alberta plains and are fun to see. There are a few rides to do and the candy store is great. Mostly its an enjoyable way to spend a relaxing day.
