"Great Place For a Walk"
by Ellie (from Calgary)
June 2008 - I used to live close to the Glenmore Reservoir, so I would visit the reservoir quite often for evening walks. I love how peaceful the trail is. While walking around the reservoir, it doesn't feel like you're still in Calgary! Large trees line the path and I've frequented spotted beavers and other wildlife. The park is especially pretty during the fall when all the leaves change colour. I highly recommend Glenmore Reservoir for a peaceful walk within the city.

"City Central Nature Retreat"
by Dana (from Calgary)
September 2007 - This is a great afternoon getaway. There is a network of walking and paved biking trails through the reserve, including a bike trail that takes you all the way around the lake. Although man-made, the reservoir is very pretty, with lots of vegetation skirting the water... the autumn colours in September were gorgeous. There are many park benches and picnic areas at which to stop at on the way around the lake and they offer the perfect opportunity to soak in the tranquil scenery. There are also unpaved trails leading through forested areas (get off your bike and walk) and these offer another opportunity to appreciate the beauty of nature. Because of the temporary bear warning signs erected throughout the park I felt a little nervous in these forest areas, but didn't have any encounters. I'm not sure if we lost the main bike path on the last section, but our last leg was over a lot of concrete... crossing a dam and then a highway, through some suburb streets and then back into the park... which wasn't so pretty. I think it took us about 3 hours to get around the whole reservoir, but this included forest trail detours, and a good long time on a lakeside park bench in the sun. When the weather warms up again I reckon I'll be back.

"Amazing Scenery!"
by Mike (from Calgary, AB)
July 2007 - If you've got an hour or two, I highly recommend biking around the Glenmore Reservoir. The scenery is beautiful and the path is in great condition. Along the way you'll pass the Rockyview Hospital and the Glenmore Landing shopping area. One warning: last year my wife encountered a bear along the path (highly unusual as far as I know).
