"Fun Market"
by d (from Calgary)
October 2008 - So much to see and taste at Lina's! The well-stocked market is popular on the weekend... not only is there an amazing variety of food and condiments from Italy and other exotic lands, but there is also an accessories section with lots of bright, fun things for the kitchen. The market is not particularly cheap, but it's worth it for the range of products available. The on-site cafe is another drawcard, and serves Italian pizza, panini's, excellent Italian coffee and divine pastries and treats.

"Expensive but Good"
by Francesca (from Calgary)
July 2008 - Lina's has a good selection of gourmet products that you can't necessarily find in other Italian stores. Its convenient location on Centre Street, and convenient hours (open on Sundays!) make it a good place to go if you are in need of some Italian favorites. I find their products, especially cold cuts and cheeses to be very expensive, but again, in a jam (i.e. Sunday afternoon, unexpected family/friends coming over and you need stuff to make a brilliant antipasto dish and Scarpone's/Italian Store is closed) or for something to do on a Sunday, Lina's is great. They also have a good counter service cafe on-site. I would recommend the pizzas.

"Divine!"
by Wendi (from Calgary, AB)
June 2006 - It's been a little while since I've visited Lina's, but generally, I consider myself a regular. Located on Centre Street, Lina's is a large Italian supermarket that is always busy and popular. They have a large kitchen/giftware section that is interesting to poke through, but the real attraction is the food. The deli has a large selection of meat and cheese, as well as olives, mushrooms and other marinated salads, oh, and desserts! Lina has her own tiramisu and a famous bruschetta that is a must. Fresh produce is here, including big bags of basil. And, there is a bakery as well! But if you want fresh ciabetta loaf on a Saturday, make sure you go early! There's a cafe onsite serving pizzas, panninis, desserts, coffees. It is easy to spend hours here. Now Lina's IS more expensive than other Italian markets, and perhaps even the most pricey. But the atmosphere and selection is bar none. If you go the last Saturday before Christmas, they usually hand out Christmas gifts, like a cutting board or something.
