July 2006 - My husband purchased a steam/massage certificate for me for our wedding anniversary in July. However when I went to use it late August, I tried to call and the phone line had been disconnected. So I stopped by a couple weeks later, and there was a sign on the door saying they were closed for renovations. However when I glanced inside there were no signs of any renovations whatsoever, all the stock was still on the shelves, and there also was a letter on their door taped by the landlord saying their rent had been overdue for more than a couple months. I checked the bankruptcy hotline and they have not filed for bankruptcy. So I now have this certificate that is coming up on its expiry date, and it seems I have no recourse for either recovering the funds or cashing in on the service. Seems pretty shady, and I'm out an anniversary gift.
