| "Such a comfy and friendly place" |

November 2007 - I was shocked to find that someone had submitted such a comment about my favourite place to stay in Calgary. I have stayed at 11th Street B&B two to three times a year for the past six years and have long considered it my Calgary home.
The hospitality is warm and welcoming but not in-your-face.
There are only three rooms in total. One room has it's own private bath and the other two share a full bathroom. I always stay in the room with private bath when available. I have always found the bathrooms, bedrooms and common areas to be very clean and tidy.
I travel to many cities throughout Canada and Europe on business and consider this establishment to be of very good value.
11th Street B&B is located on a trendy street close to shops, restaurants, etc. but as a single woman travelling on my own, I have never considered the area unsafe by any means.
I look forward to my next stay.

October 2007 - The website presents this property as "quality and comfort" with "renovations offering optimum comfort" and also "shared bath" which actually meant shared between 8 rooms! Parking is non-existent after 7 am and we felt uncomfortable leaving our vehicle out overnight in this part of town. The rooms were clean but the lighting in the hallways was quite dingy. The check-in proceedure was a key in an envelope with our name on it taped to the door.

It is unfortunate that we did not live up to this person's expectations but after accommodating thousands of people over the last twelve years, I guess some criticism is expected. It is also unfortunate that this comment was published without certain facts being verified. The Calgary Health Region would not allow us to have eight rooms sharing one bathroom. This just simply isn't the case. Two rooms share one bathroom and the third room has an en suite.
We operate a Bed and Breakfast and have no staff. This means we can't be here and awake 24 hours a day. Though we try and greet all our guests, we can't always. If we should have to go out we will leave a set of keys at the door so you can access your room. This will also be the case if we have retired for the night.
Parking is available 24 hours and without charge. Information is available from our web site. It would help us if you indicated a need for a parking spot when making your reservation. We will make sure your vehicle is accommodated. We always tell our guests not to leave anything visible in their vehicles. This is prudent in any city of a million people.
I believe the hallways are adequately lit. There is 40W in the front porch, 120W in the front hall and 200W in the upstairs hall. And yes, the rooms are clean.
