"Convenient Downtown Location"

by Sally (from Fernie, BC)
June 2008 - After some searching in the city center area of Calgary for a reasonably priced hotel I realized that reasonably priced is hard to find in this busy downtown. The Ramada seemed to be one of the best value-for-money options as it was within easy walking distance of Stephen Avenue and the Eau Claire market. It also had parking available to hotel customers, which was important for my stay.

The lobby was clean and the staff very friendly and helpful as they checked us in. We had two rooms booked and when asked they found us rooms located next to each other. The rooms were clean, tidy and a reasonable size. We had a flat screen TV in our room, which actually seemed a little modern for the décor but it didn’t detract from our stay. We also had wireless internet access and there was a small balcony looking out onto an outdoor pool that we did not use. Given the general price of accommodation in Calgary I felt this was a pleasant place to stay.

"Good value, Great location"

by Storm (from Calgary)
November 2007 - I recently had visitors from out of town and they wanted to stay in downtown Calgary but didn't really want to pay a fortune and for this, the Ramada on 8th Avenue fit the bill. While it is obviously not as posh as many other downtown hotels (the Palliser, the Sheraton at Eau Claire, etc), neither is it as spendy. For its price range, the Ramada offers both excellent value and locale. What the hotel lacks in amenities (no hot tub, complimentary breakfast), it makes up for in being within walking distance of practically everything downtown and is generally of higher quality than its counterparts out in Motel Village. Plus, while parking is not free, the hotel has an underground parking area (with valet service) for a fee of $15 per 24-hour period. If you're just passing through, perhaps Motel Village is the place but for a modestly-priced Calgary visit, a downtown stay at the Ramada is hard to beat.
