February 2007 - Located in an unattractive mini-mall, Anpurna delivers. Not literally. If you want take-out, you have to go pick it up. But it does provide tasty vegetarian Indian food at prices so low you'll wonder what's wrong with it. But that's the point. Nothing's wrong with it. Quite the contrary. Oh, it's a little greasy, but all Indian food is. And being vegetarian, it's fatty with unsaturated fats! Dishes are under five dollars. Yup, that's not a typ0. You can also get a special meal dish with a small portions of two or three curries with rice for around ten dollars. That's what a friend and I had each. It wasn't very spicy as in hot, but it was flavourful. And it certainly isn't my favourite Indian restaurant, but the price was really right. The atmosphere is lacking. They've tried to beautify it with sarongs over flourescent lighting, for example, but it's still very diner looking. And it smells really greasy, like fried grease. Take out is probably best.
