November 2008 - I just happened into The Barking Frog pub after not being in there in quite a while and came to discover that they have recently hired a new chef...
The food that he delivired has taken on a whole new taste compared to what was being served there before. You can tell just by looking at the plates that are coming out, that this new chef takes pride in his work and cares about the meal he has prepared for you. I had read the previous article before I went in there and asked them about the frogs as "Cinderella" had mentioned, and came to learn from speaking with the wife of the owner (very friendly) that each of those frogs were gifts from customers and they had been brought back from all over the world. It made me want to track down something so that I could be remembered by having my frog on the wall. Over all Great Expereince and I can't wait to go back!

July 2008 - This is the only pub in Chaparral so there really isn't much choice, but the the gaudy frog decor and indifferent service are some indications that something's not working. The food is of very low quality, even for a pub. Jalapeņo poppers are battered banana peppers, nachos include bland bottled salsa, and even simple salads miss the mark. Drinks take at least 10 minutes, regardless of how busy it is and still come out tasting wrong. Not recommended for anything more than a beer and a place to watch sports.

May 2008 - My girlfriend and I (both in our 50's) wanted a meal and a night out, thought we would try the Barking Frog as it was close to her home. We had a great meal and then the band came out, Mid Life Crisis, and they were awesome!! They got us up dancing with Rock and Roll (a little feedback problem with the mike that needs to be worked out), but the music was great, the staff and customers were friendly, and the food was good and reasonable. We'll be back.

May 2008 - We stop at this pub often and have found the service and attitude of the Management and serving staff to be one of the best in the city. The friday night steak and prawns special at I think 10.99 can't be beat in the city. The cut and tenderness of the steak will rival a lot of the top end steak restaurants in Calgary.

January 2007 - My wife and I frequently visit The Barking Frog down in Lake Chaparral. The Friday night Steak and Prawns special is something we look forward to every Friday after work. Couple that with great service and very friendly staff, I would recommend this pub to anyone looking for a great time and great food at a reasonable price.
