March 2008 - Don't be late... or you'll miss out on some great freshly baked goodies! This little gem hidden in the basement under The Cookbook Company is what I think of when I am dreaming of being back in Europe... the quintessential neighorhood baker. Often when running around preparing for a dinner party I will stop in at Metrovino for a few bottles of wine and well... you can't not stop at Metrovino and miss popping downstairs to Brulee for a few treats. In particular their creative flat breads (Focaccia) are to die for. Figs, sundried tomatoes, sweet baked garlic... yum, yum, yum. It makes for such an easy little appetizer when your guests arrive. Grab a little EVO (Extra Virgin Olive Oil) upstairs at The Cookbook Company with some aged Balsamic and well... all your friends will think you are totally gourmet!
To wrap up your dinner - their lemon tarts are classic! A great way to end a meal with a little something tart and sweet all at the same time. The service is excellent and always pleasant. The prices are reasonable for what you get - and you get a warm feeling inside when you know your supporting the local community.
They are a definite "four" dessert forks up for class and style!

July 2007 - I was just at Brulee Bakery recently and they are now open wed- sat...so you can get their great pastries and desserts pretty much whenevr you want to now, which is great!!!
