August 2007 - Bookers is an interesting place. The interior is cheaply decorated a la Krusty Krab from SpongeBob Squarepants, but the food is pretty good. My wife and I shared the seafood combo platter which consisted of Snow crab, jambalaya, various shrimp, corn, coleslaw, cornbread and mashed potatoes. The fish was quite fresh and tasty but the extras ie) corn and slaw, were mere fillers with little or no taste. To be honest, I was expecting more. I've heard good things about this place over the years, and I left feeling a bit disappointed. I could see this being a great place to meet friends Friday after work for appetizers and beer.

September 2006 - I recently took my bloke to Bookers for birthday dinner and it was fantastic. The atmosphere is very casual and live music is a frequent occurrence on the weekends. If it's fancy suit and tie dining that you are looking for you won't find it here. Simple, tasty and well priced seems to be the motto. The interior is nautically themed and full of character and the exterior consists of a landmark mural that covers the entire south wall. The building appears to be in an old warehouse with high ceilings giving an unfinished industrial feel, topped with menus made from old license plates. To start, we ordered deep fried pickles -sounds weird but a definite must try and crab cakes -they were so delicious that I wanted to order another plate for my main course. I had the crescent salmon in creamy Creole sauce, very yummy. The portions are generous and the service was excellent. The only complaint I had was the smoking factor -it was a bit too smoky. Oh and be warned, the only bathrooms are located at the top of a considerably steep set of stairs.
