"Night of enchanting service and cuisine"
10
by Lisa (from Calgary)
July 2007 - This was a night to remember. I enjoyed the atmosphere almost as much as I enjoyed the cuisine! Warm and inviting, creativly decorated, A wonderfull live jazz performence on the tucked away corner stage, warm lighting, and exceptional service.
Our meal began with a wonderfull introduction to the restaurant by our waiter. The menu was very creative and there were lots of local and reginol cuisine to choose from. I had the blue mussels and my table mates had ordered the baked brie and the calamari. My mussels were swimming in a lovely fennel infused white wine cream broth that was intense as well as delicate in flavor. The baked brie was fantastic in that it was exactly it should be, simple and subtle flavors to compliment the cheese. Calamari ringlets were cooked to perfection, very soft and tender, great dipping sauce provided to enhanse the flavors.

We were served a complimentry pallet cleanser after our appetizers which was a unique blend of flavors to clean the pallet and get you ready for your entree.
We all ordered something a little different for our main course, so we could enjoy tasting as much of what the Bears Den had to offer. We ordred the fettucini with porchini mushoom cream sauce and roasted cherry tomatos , the game trio, which consisting of elk, bison, and venison tenderloin, and the sea bass.
All three dishes tasted as wonderfull as the menu discribed.
The Elk, bison, and venison melted in your mouth like butter, You could have used your fork too cut into it. The sea bass was my favorite. Never tasted such a light, and delicate fish befor, the fettucini was so rich and creamy one of the best pasta dishs I have tried in a long time.

We were served a complimentry maple whiskey after our main course and then moved onto dessert. Well we were all quiet full by this time so we decided to have a few more beverages and coffee for after the meal. The exespresso wasnt on there menu but they were happy to serve it, and the selection of fine wines and beers made our evening even better. Our waiter was the best We have ever had, from his culinary knowledge to his warm and welcoming attitude. We had spent over 4 hours enjoying our meal and cocktails when it was time to leave, it was hard to say goodbye.

I only have one suggestion for the Bears Den, A cheese tasting plate on the desert menu would be well received.
