| "Great for Garlic Gastronomes" |

by Anne (from Calgary) January 2010 - Antonio’s Garlic Clove restaurant is a cozy 4th Street restaurant where you’ll find a choice of dishes featuring a bevy of flavors, the most prevalent, of course, is garlic. Appetizers are garlicky variations of traditional appetizers, with the surprisingly delicious Brie cheese and roasted garlic in homemade bread, prawns in garlic and white wine, garlic pork dumplings and garlic soup. Dinners range from seafood delicacies to fowl and turf fare and many pasta dishes (everything’s prepared in some way with garlic). We loved the Jay Prawns - garlicky with rosemary & thyme, and the Wobbly Pork Chops with carmelized garlic and apple syrup. Even dessert doesn’t escape the clove – try the garlic cheesecake – sounds weird but tastes great! Waitstaff can recommend good wines and sides to accompany your meal. Minors are not allowed, so don’t bring kids. But do bring mints for later.

| "Wonderful and Stinky!" |

by Jenny (from Calgary) September 2009 - I went to Antonio's Garlic Clove with some girlfriends and wasn't quite sure what to expect but figured it would be right up my alley because I looooove garlic.
This restaurant lived up to its name. As soon as we walked through the door my senses were overwhelmed with the potency of the scent of garlic in the air. The restaurant is small and intimate and the service was outstanding. The staff was very friendly and attentive. Every dish contains garlic. There were six of us there for dinner and we ordered a bunch of dishes and shared them. The signature dish of bread stuffed with brie and garlic cloves was incredible!
I would love to eat there on a regular basis, but the only downside of eating at Antonio's is the fact that my boyfriend really didn't appreciate the fact that I had a stench of garlic coming off me for about a week!!! So next time I eat there, I'm going to have to bring him with me!

| "Oh wow. Garlic heaven" |

by Melissa (from Calgary) August 2009 - I love garlic. Enough to have it in my apple pie? Oh yeah. Try it. I'm serious!
The stars of this show, in my opinion, are the appies, which are all incredible. The Bruchetta is like manna from heaven; one of the best I've ever had. The Sweet n Sour garlic is unlike anything you've had before.
That's not to say the mains aren't great. I love the Spaghetti and Brie. The server was wonderful. The space is intimate, but the decor is playful. Great wine.
The menu is really inventive. It can get a little pricey though, so we tend to save it for special occasions. But I love it!

by C. (from Calgary) September 2007 - Was trying to think of some place to go for dinner tonight that wasn't the norm, and I remembered Antonio's Garlic Clove, a restaurant I've been to a couple of times before for a friend's birthday. I remembered how tiny it was, and so made sure to call in to make a reservation.
I was thrilled to see that the quality of the food hadn't decreased in the slightest. The server was happy to offer suggestions regarding wine selection. The appetizer (I think the name was the 4 cheese garlic bake) was wonderful, with the blue cheese adding a really nice edge.
One of my dinner companions had the Chicken Planter, which was wonderful. I can only describe it as having the kind of flavor that makes the muscles in your cheeks tighten. The other had the Stinking Steak, which I didn't try because I don't eat red meat, but that she really liked. She did find that the cloves of garlic that are in the steak aren't as cooked as the rest of the cloves, but other than that she said it was really good. I had the Wobbly Chops. The pork chop was cooked exactly the way I like it, with a little bit of pork fat cooked crispy, and the cop itself wonderfully juicy. The sauce was amazing. As side dishes, we had the garlic mashed potatoes, and white beets, which I've never had before and really enjoyed.
For dessert, we tried a dish that had banana's, chocolate, ice cream, and garlic. It would have never occured to me to try that particular combination, but it was so good. The garlic flavor was really subtle, not overpowering in the slightest, and I'd really recommend giving it a try. All in all, I was really happy that we went for dinner, and I'm looking forward to going again.

| "Absolutely Delicious" |

by Charles (from Alberta, Calgary) August 2007 - My family and I dined at Antonio's garlic glove for my birthday. Once we arrived we were seated right away by a very friendly waitress. The appetissers we ordered were the brie stuffed foccacia covered in garlic gloves and the bruchetta which were both great. The roasted garlic gloves in the foccacia were sweet and added lots of flavor to the creamy brie. Once all the guests arrived midway through the appetizers we all ordered our main course and the house Chardonnay. The atmosphere is very cozzy since the restaurant only sits about 25 people; looking around you can see all the different types of garlic which is interesting. Once the meals arrived and my juicy "stinking steak" was sitting in front of me, the garlic smell was delicious. To my surprise there were almost more gloves inside my steak then on top, my taste buds were tingling, this was ever so wonderful. My only regret was not getting a slightly dryer wine. Since I was the brithday boy I got to try a bite of the pork and chicken which were both just as juicy as my steak. To end the diner we all shared the garlic mousse, the apple strudel, the garlic banana with garlic ice cream and the garlic cheesecake. These are unique deserts, however, after eating 2 full cloves of garlic these deserts were very subtle in their garlic flavor. The ones I enjoyed the most were the garlic mousse and the garlic banana. Throughout the meal everyone had finished every last bit of every dish that was ordered. We all thoroughly enjoyed this restaurant and I hope everyone has the chance to enjoy these wonderful dishes.

| "Service and garlic left a bad taste" |
|
|
by Sarah (from Calgary) October 2006 - During a recent trip to the Garlic Clove for dinner I experienced mediocre food and very slow service. The dinner started with promise. The appetizers were fast and delicious, garlic mussels and Brie stuffed focaccia bread (with about 100 garlic cloves on it!) We ordered our entrees and aps at the same time; however, the entrees didn't arrive until 70 minutes after we had finished our starters. I wasn't even hungry anymore. Despite the massive delay our server was quite nice and pleasant even though the only consumable items on our table were full water glasses. When my meal came (Chicken Arti) it was not bad, but a bit dry and boring. I probably would not go back a second time.
