"Highway Robbery"

October 2007 - The restaurant is beautifully laid out. We sat at a table on the top level and had a lovely view of the entire restaurant. However, the food was pretentious and overpriced to the point of ridiculous while the portions were silly small. The service was quite slow but our waiter was very polite.

"Unsatisfactory Customer Service"

March 2007 - ....it was my first time dining at belgo's just at the end of march for a couple of friends' birthday parties..i must say, the place is very beautiful and the food was outstanding...but it has to be said, i did not enjoy the customer service we received that evening. The waitresses and waiters were civil and nothing more..not once did i see a smile on any of their faces and i could tell from their expressions that perhaps they were not enjoying the fact that they had to serve more than 50 people. In all honesty, i can say with absolute certainty that although I very much enjoyed the food and the atmosphere at the restaurant, I was very disappointed with the customer service..individuals hired to work at a restaurant of that type should reflect its beauty and to me it did not...there were a couple of waiters that were very polite and seemed to be happy of our presence and i applaud them for that...but overall, we were all unhappy about the service..

"Bring your own Fork"

December 2006 - The service staff at Belgo is not qualified for the 15-20% tips they receive on such high-priced, yet well prepared, meals. When I asked to sample a few different beers, I was first presented with beer brands typical of a chain restaurant (ie: Stella, Keiths, and Kokannee). When the first course plates were removed from the table the waiter requested we keep our dirty forks for the (~$40 a plate) main course.
The food was a pleasure to eat for someone not worried about the bill, but the service continued to get in the way of an enjoyable experience.

"Quite an Experience"

October 2006 - went to Belgo with some friends for a girl's night out and it was such a treat! Our server began by telling us that he was new and asking us to please be patient, but I found that the service was excellent. Very attentive and knowledgeable. We had to wait for water refills on occasion, but the wait wasn't excessive. We tried two different kinds of mussels, the Sorrel and Chardonnay and the Lemongrass & Thai Basil with Coconut Milk. Both versions were delicious! The mussels come with french fries that are covered in a very tasty seasoning and served with some yummy dip. We also got bread to dip into the extra broth from the mussels. Everything tasted great! Each of us tried a different Belgian beer and we were especially impressed by the Fruuli. It's a strawberry beer that tastes more like juice than beer. We found the beers to be a bit pricey but otherwise the entire experience was pretty great!
