"Fantastic Steak and Cozy Atmosphere"
|

by Tony (from Calgary) September 2009 - I was pleasantly surprised to come here twice so far, once last year for my birthday and again this year. The setting is upscale yet inviting. Staff are welcoming and very polite. Both I and my girlfriend had ordered the most expensive cut which was the filet mignon at about 12 ounces.
It was the most tender steak I have ever tasted within the city of Calgary. I mean you can go ahead and buy your everyday AAA steak from local vendors which do taste great and have great value, but there is just something about this steak that just melts in your mouth and barely needs any extra seasoning. Big smile on my face as I slid the first piece in.
Ordered the steak with a traditional bearnaise sauce which complimented the tenderness of the steak very well if you are into a savoury sauce. Came with a baked potato side which was also extremely good and came with all the fixings.
The meal came with complimentary bread and soup+salad. Bread was good but was a bit heavy on the butter, but hey how often do you get to indulge? And you should if you are paying the price of fine dining. French onion soup was the only soup they had offered and was extremely salty (end of the day might of been the bottom of the barrel serving). Usual salad nothing special with your choice of salad dressing.
If you want a place that will cook steak right and taste great on a special occasion (or have a disposable income) highly recommended as you will remember how extremely satisfying the tenderness/taste of the meat was.

by erik (from calgary) February 2009 - This is the dining experience that I will not soon forget, and that’s a good thing in Calgary. Ceaser is totally opposite to what you expect in a restaurant from coat check to the bill. The vintage décor is classic 1970’s with no wear or tattyness one might expect of an interior this old. Service is great and the food although dated is good. Pricing is fine, and inline with a proper steakhouse. If you live or work downtown, go there as there is nothing like it.

by Tom (from Calgary) October 2007 - In general the restaurant is good - service is ok, food quality is good but at the price - nearly $200.00 for four without drinks or dessert - There are any number of restaurants where the food is just as good and the price would have been under half of what we paid.

"Best Steakhouse in Calgary."

by James (from Calgary) July 2007 - I dine out an average of three times a week, I have eaten at some of the finest restaurants in London, Rome, Madrid, Delhi, Prague, New York, Beijing and all points inbetween. I went to Caesars and believe me it is the best steakhouse in Calgary. The food is great and comes out quick although it can't be characterized as excelllent. As long as you don't go to a steakhouse and order seafood you should have an amazing experience. The service is really cool. Unlike most restaurant's you get old guys in tuxedos. They may seem rude if your used to a simpering 16 year old (which is by no means a bad thing) but in reality they serve as they are supposed to without a lot of useless questions and conversation. They really add to the ambience of the place. I would definitely recommend this restaurant not neccesarily for the food (although it is good) but for the overall experience.

"Worst Experience Ever"

by chris (from calgary) April 2007 - I dine out an average of four times a week, I have opened 27 restaurants over the last 12 years in four different countries. I have eaten at some of the finest restaurants in New York, Los Angeles, Prague, Tokyo and all points inbetween. I went to Caesars based upon its reputation as one of the best steakhouses in Calgary, Believe me it is only reputation not fact. The food is uninspired, rote and bland tasting. It is also overpriced for the quality. To give you an idea of price my filet with lobster tail was 58.95 and my wife's sole was around 40.oo. The lobster tail was carribiean rather than North Atlantic so you understand what I am talking about quality. The service is rude and inattentive. My steak was ordered medium to medium rare and when it came out it was medium well. When informing the server he told me to cut into it more like I didn't know what a medium steak was supposed to look and taste like. He even told my wife that she shouldn't use her knife to cut her fish as it was meant to cut her vegetables. The decor is outdated and bland. I would not recommend this restaurant at all.

"Best steakhouse, period."

by Gerald (from Calgary, Alberta) September 2006 - How this one has stayed off the list is beyond me. I have been many times, and I take everyone who visits from out of town here. If you love steak and the foods tradionally associated with it and steakhouse, this is the place for you. Salad dressings are all made in house and are fantastic. The CHEESE TOAST is something that sounds crazy to rave about at a steakhouse, but try it and you'll get my meaning. The steak is, of course, perfect and you get to watch it being broiled. The atmosphere is that of an old gentelman's club. The waiters are a tuxed up and actually know what they're doing, which is a rarity in this city nowadays. Despite this, dressing casually won't make you feel out of place. Most of the waiters I have talked to there are long time employees, which tells you something about the place.
