"Costly!"
by Kelsey (from Calgary)
September 2007 - Hmmmm I think this is a nice place to shop but a lot of things that you can get at your regular grocery store are very overpriced here. I understand the organic produce and meat cost more but a package of rice crackers for $4??? Puleeease....I can get the same brand at Safeway for $1.99. That is crazy and makes me question the pricing on the rest of the goods. If there is something I know that only Natural Foods has I will go but I would not make this a place to stock up on groceries, it is just too pricey.

"Good selection"
by Wendi (from Calgary, AB)
September 2006 - I love community foods and have been going here for years. I generally go the to 10 Ave SW location but if you go, avoid the weekends as the store is small and gets very packed. It is generally busy, so if you haven't been before, just be sure to be patient and realize that you can't just rush in and out because things are cramped. But it is cramped full of fun and wonderful organic food! Vitamins, health care products, cheeses, soy products, organic fruit and veg and all kinds of packaged and bulk goods. It is a wonder how they get it all in here. There is a little cafe onsite at the 10th Ave location which is pretty good. I always think the food good be better though given that they have the best ingredients. Things to remember: bring your own bags (they have bags you'll feel better if you bring your own) and they have a "scan away homelessness" program where you can pay about $3 per scan of a keychain and the proceeds go to the Mustardseed.
