March 2008 - If you are looking for a basic place to sleep for a reasonable cost, try the Howard Johnson Hotel. Just a warning they are renovating. The room we had was one of the older ones. The room itself was acceptable but the bathroom, especially the tub, really needed updating as the enamel was peeling off in spots. The hallway, carpets, doors etc. also need a facelift. The hotel's location is in a rather rundown looking area of town. It also would have been nice to get into the room earlier in the day. We did realize official check-in was at 4 p.m., but had their housekeeping personnel started earlier than 11 a.m., perhaps it would have been possible to get into the room a bit earlier. On the up side, it was close to our friend's place and staff were friendly and helpful.
