September 2007 - I have stayed at this hotel 4 different times this year and am not sure why I keep going back. The hotel is nice inside, there are 2 restaurants on site a small pool and hot tub and a convenient location. The first stay, the bed was horrible, springs sticking out, etc. The second time was the best of the four, nice bed, good service. The third stay was a disaster. On the way in I called and said I would be arriving after midnight so to hold my room for me, they couldn't find my reservation, it turns out when I booked it reservations booked it for June instead of July. My family was arriving the next day and we were renting an additional room for them, this was also a struggle to secure a room for them due to the lost reservation and it being a long weekend. I moved to a room with one bed and asked to have the other room cleaned for my family. By 4pm an hour before their arrival the room was not clean. In addition it was July and very hot, the a/c in their rooms are on motion sensors, if nobody is moving the a/c is not working. This makes NO sense considering it does not detect motion while you are out or sleeping. In other words you come back to a hot room and while trying to get a restful sleep you are so hot you can't sleep anyway. The fourth and after all of this my final visit was not a success. I reserved a room with a King bed and pullout sofa. When we went to our room it was suite with a queen bed. Not what I asked for. I couldn't be bothered to change that night so the next morning I called and asked for the King room, after changing rooms I really regretted it because the Queen suite had a/c that wasn't on sensors but the new room was again a/c with a sensor. It was 25C in Edmonton and very hot in the hotel, so another sleepless night I was paying for. All in all VERY disappointing. I travel to Edmonton regularly and that will be my last stay at the Sandman.

March 2007 - The Hotel is clean, but needs alot better service. No room service available, no one seemed to care if we were satisfied or not. Too Bad......
