September 2007 - We were fortunate to get a room facing south-east at the Crown Plaza-Chateau Lacombe in Edmonton, Alberta. The view of the river valley in the fall is spectacular, and the night lights are fascinating as well. This is a great place to stay since it is a nice walking distance from the city centre, and from both the Winspear and Citadel Theatres. Our room was very clean, which is a real plus. The room temperature was quite good, but even when the thermostat was turned off, there was a steady small amount of heat which we did not need! The obliging young man at the front desk said that he would see that it was checked. The minimum number of towels were provided, but we also had the message that more could be provided if desired. This makes sense in the interests of the environment, etc. While the rate per night is not economy, it certainly isn't as expensive as others in the same area. There were absolutely no waits or difficulties in the check-in or check-out.
