by lidia (from edmonton) October 2007 - I did not have reservations and was still greeted friendly and they had a spot for 2 available. The service was quick and the food is authentic. I would recommend this restuarant to anyone who loves the real thing in Italian food.
I wasn't expecting to stay 3 hours but what restuarant -other than one that is not busy would want you to stay there that long???
I found it to be a quaint restuarant with excellent food and really good service-if you like Italian you will love Allegro
You should go!!

by Monique (from Sherwood Park Alberta) March 2007 - Every year we try a different restaurant for my birthday, and usually we try to pick something out of the entertainment book.
My forte is Italian, so we decided to try Allegro's. As the west end was more convenient to us we went there.
First of all they DO NOT take the entertainment book card. Only the downtown one.
We had made reservations for 4 over a week earlier. Unfortunately at the last minute our friends had an emergency and couldn't make it, so we went just the two.
We were greeted by a very rude older gentleman, who gave us a lecture on not calling to cancel the other two, and normally they wouldn't seat us because they have been flooded with calls for reservations on that day. I tried to explain we booked over a week ago, and they couldn't make it, but he wouldnt listen.
Then he totally rushed us through everything. I like to take my time whenwe go for dinner. We didn't evenget a chance tolook at the wine list. He seemed very impatient with us. He brought us the housewine - because obviously I was taking too long with deciding. And then kept asking if we had made up our mind, so we just ordered. We were out of there within an hour.
I would expect that at a fast food chain, but not a restaurant where the food is way overpriced. the tast was good, but for our money, we didn't need to go all the way to Allegro's and get rushed thru!!!!!!! last year we went to Renato's on the north side. We were there over 3 hours, having a great time, excellent and friendly service, and the food was good and reasonably priced. I would go back here anyday.
Allegro's never again!
