by Melanie (from Edmonton) July 2007 - Having never tried Lebanese food before, I was a little skeptical about the whole "meat pie" idea. My husband was very anxious to try it, so we went. The interior is clean and bright, nothing fancy, for sure, but you're not there for the ambiance. The owner was a very nice and friendly gentleman, ready to offer suggestions and give out samples for you to try before you order. We got a meat pie, a cheese pie and a ham pie. As well, my husband ordered a donair with cheese. Total was something like $16. Great value. The meat pie was interesting. A spice was used that I'm very unfamiliar with, and it was good, but took some getting used to. The cheese and ham pies were great. The doniar was very good as well. The lebanese donair meat is different from what I'm used to in a donair, but it was really tasty, spicy and tender. Overall, this is a great little place for lunch or dinner. They're open until 10pm, which is pretty convenient. The husband and wife team who own and run the restaurant are truly so nice and generous. I love finding small family-run restaurants like this. I feel that giving them our support means so much more than eating out at a "big box" chain restaurant. Next time we go, we'll try the pizza, as it looked and smelled great.
