| "U of A bistro-pub-cafe" |
by Hanna (from Edmonton) October 2007 - Dewey’s is a bistro-pub-café run by the University of Alberta’s Student Union. It is located in the old Powerplant building. The menu contains lunch items such as wraps, salads, sandwiches, soups and appetizers. My favorite lunch dish is the Rueben and salad for $5.50. The nachos are also very good; a favorite among students. They pile nacho chips high with layer upon layer of cheese and veggies, all for a very reasonable price. It is an ideal dish to split with friends over a cold pitcher of beer.
The atmosphere of the café is lively, artsy and most all the patrons are students. Abstract art pieces cover the walls, music plays in the background and the area is filled with tables, chairs and coaches containing studying students or chatting friends. The loft area, located up the stairs, features a lounge area with the most comfy couches! This little café is a great place to meet with friends, grab a coffee and have a quick lunch. The service is quick and the waiters are friendly.
