"Energy and Friendship"

February 2008 - What a treat to visit the Highlevel Diner for a lunch date in an atmosphere of energy and friendship. Students find this location good for their pocket books and close to their residences near the University. The enthusiastic discussions keep the noise level rather high but nonetheless appealing. The wooden tables are close together but the diner needs all the tables they can get as the place is very popular. A wide selection is offered for lunch. Sandwiches, soups, hot meals and salads are all included. Some specials are offered. One of us ordered the Shepherd's Pie, a comfort food, served with garlic toast and a side order of taboula salad. The other order was an ample slice of spinach, tomato and cheese quiche with a taboula salad. The servings were generous and very tasty. The taboula salad had a great deal of parsley with diced tomato and cucumber with bulgar. The lemon and oil dressing provided a clean, fresh taste. If you prefer vegan, the menu will accommodate you. The green tea topped the meal for us but desserts are offered. The price was $22. for two. Definitely a great place for lunch.
