"Valentine's Dinner"
8.67
by Chris (from Edmonton)
February 2008 - After making my reservation I stumbled accross a review (an unfavourable one) and I wondered if I had made the right decision in where to take my sweetie for a Valentine's day dinner...

I decided to give it a shot. After finding this well-concealed restaurant we entered to find a very relaxed atmosphere. I am sort of split on how I feel about a self coat check but I guess it is nice that they had a place to put your coat. It was nice inside that it was quiet and romantic. I wasn't thrilledd that in a fairly empty restaurant that they placed the next guests right beside us but that might be more a matter of servers having sections (???) more than anything.

As far as the food, the cost, and the overall experience though I have to say that I am pleased. The steak Carribean (strip sirloin with a lobster meat in the centre) was very delicious. My girlfriend had the steak neptune and said she would want to return just to have that. Seeing as we both come from a family of eaters, it is a good thing for them that they have earned return customers. We started off with bacon wrapped scallops - they were very tasty - but those are the kinds of things that are hard to mess up in my opinion. We finished with baked cheesecake with Saskatoon berries (mmm..... was so good). I didn't have much room but that was the perfect way to top off a great meal. My sweetie had a glass of their French wine. It was reasonably priced and she gave it a good review.

I am happy at the slow and steady revitalization of Edmonton's downtown core. This is a good place to go for a romantic dinner or out with family and friends if you want a place where you can talk and not have to yell to hear each other. I would gladly pay a few more bucks for an entre (25-30) to have the better experience
