June 2007 - This review in no way should reflect on the town of Morinville! The people are lovely, honest and hard working folks, the town is pretty and the country side stuning!I decided to visit Alberta in June 2007. I loved the friendly people of the Morinville region. Looking for accommodation I was told of la Maison as the only motel in town. The locals didn't seem to have much to say about the place but thought I'd give it a go anyway. It was a dump! I have travelled over 4 continents and never in my life I found such a filthy place. The beds sheets were not changed before another guest moved in! I requested clean sheets as obviously someone had previously slept in the bed. the ''manager" using the term very loosely didn't bat an eye lid when i told him the sheets were dirty! He blamed the maid for not doing her job, during my three weeks stay (why would one stay three weeks you may ask??) i was hoping to find other accommodation and stay in town, but alas to no avail! I never see the cleaning lady change any bed at all. Never heard the sound of vaccum cleaner, nor observed any cleaning trolley wheeled in the passageway, nor smeled any air freshner in the place! I have witnessed urinating in the passageway, pointed that to the manager but no cleaning resulted and the stench stayed in the air for a few days. The floor was never swept, vaccumed or any care taken of the place. Simply, the place was dirty, crawling with bugs, fleas, bed linen were dirty, the manager customer service skills were non existant. Receipt was reluctantly given for the first week but cash was required in non uncertain terms explaining that a reduction in cost would result. Did not notice any! and never received my receipt for the other weeks.
This sort of astablishment put a stain on what is a beautiful community, wake up Canada!! Look after your visitors you have so much to offer!!
