July 2007 - On a recent vacation, The Dildo Dory Grill was one stop we had to make to try some seafood. We arrived just after the lunch rush and that made for a nice relaxing meal. Some great East coast music was playing which really added to the experience, especially for visitors from Alberta. Because this restaurant is right on the Dildo harbour, the views are magnificent – even if it is a stormy, foggy day.
We ordered the Seafood Pasta and the Dory Load to share. The Dory Load is a seafood platter that contains sautéed shrimp, scallops, fried cod bites and clams. As stated in the menu, it really was “so big that it came on two plates!” And the shrimp were bigger than any you could get back on the prairies! Both dishes were extremely tasty.
In addition to seafood, the menu is full of dishes not from the sea. Everything is quite reasonably priced. Definitely make this a stop if you are ever in the area.

June 2007 - The Dildo Dory Grill is located at the centre of the harbour in Dildo, Trinity Bay, Newfoundland. The restaurant is located on the top floor of the largest building on the quay. If you come upon the Dildo Harbour View Convenience store, this is part of the same business but caters to the pop, chips and pizza crowd.
The Grill has obviously employed a fine chef who can handle the local traditional fare as well as other items which might be found in Euro and California cuisines in more urban restaurants. If while in Newfoundland you don’t get the opportunity to try homestyle meals, this Grill is a great place for exploring the possibilities. Try the halibut. For those not so keen on Newoundland specialties, there are plenty of familiar chicken, steak, pasta or wrap-based meals.
Locally resident servers bring high quality meals to your table. While my vacation home is only 250 metres from the restaurant, it is easy to see that most patrons have driven many miles to dine at the Dildo Dory.
