| "Coconut Pie" |
|
|
by David (from Orléans) May 2007 - You can drive the length of route 80 (the Baccalieu Trail) in Trinity Bay, Newfoundland, but you won’t find a Tim Horton’s or a McDonalds restaurant anywhere in sight. You need some caffeine and some calories? Stop at Fran’s Kitchen on the back road in Dildo. For dining in, there are only a few tables.
You can order something hot to eat alongside your hot drink. I had a somewhat forgettable hamburger but, generally, the food is of a fine-quality home-made style. Service can be a bit slow. I am told that the home-made coconut pie is worth the visit.
You may have money left over. There is a decent gift store right next door.
In this café you will encounter locals who enjoy talking with you, even if you are trying to eat. It’s better they talk with you than about you. No matter what happens, you will become part of the local gossip.
