June 2007 - The only place in town and the owner was quick to tell us that and the fact that she didn't have to advertize as she basically had the market cornered with the captains etc of the fishing community and didn't need us, especially before the official season. Left the keys for us which was very trustworthy and accommodating. Offered us the use of the kitchen which was also most welcoming and trustworthy.
However, the rooms are minimalistic, the linens are used and worn, the bathrooms are cramped, the walls are extremely paper thin....the one other guest in the inn that night left the TV on all night so there was no sleeping. In the morning we had the pleasure of hearing that neighbour go to the washroom as if in the same room...fortunately we have a sense of humour and dissolved in early morning giggles albeit stifled so that he would not hear us thru the walls! Compared to the many other places we stayed on our two week Newfoundland adventure, this was a total rip-off! Sorry for this rating but true and absolutley honest. Would not recommend the Captain's Inn to anyone we know. Out of 5 stars ... a 2 compared to other places we stayed.
