by David (from Orleans) May 2008 - While awaiting air traffic at St. John’s international airport, the choice for dining is usually poor: Tim Horton’s or Cactus Jack’s. There is a restaurant at the airport (which is related to Cactus Jack’s in some way) but the hours of this restaurant are even more limited than the aforementioned donut and burger outlets.
At Cactus Jack’s I was pleased with my cheddar burger. While the cheese was simply a slice of processed, the burger was a quarter pound, home style patty with plenty of condiments. Though the patty was frozen, it tasted fresh. The fries were also tasty and home style. The fries appeared to be overdone but were actually dark because of the potato skin. My dining friends enjoyed a wrap which they shared. Apparently, the wraps are large enough to share.
Service was poor. Despite more than eight individuals on staff, they were overwhelmed with less than a dozen customers and actually closed the cashier so that they could catch up with orders. The cashier did not reopen during our meal.
The dining area is shared between the outlets. Therefore, I do not know who was responsible for cleaning. I asked Cactus Jack’s staff for a cloth to clean a table. My request was acknowledged but I didn’t get a cloth. Ten minutes later, we washed a table with water and serviettes.
