by David (from Orléans) June 2007 - Cora’s is THE place for a full breakfast menu that includes lots of fresh fruit. This particular franchise is located off the food court in a downtown government office building, Atlantic Place, in St John’s, Newfoundland. Even though the location is downtown, there is plenty of parking.
Like all of Cora’s other locations, this restaurant is closed by 15h00. The menu features breakfast and lunch choices based on Québec traditions and all menu items have been tested and approved by Cora’s family and friends. Most patrons begin with the fruit cocktail drink which is a blend of that particular day’s best fruit. Each morning brings a unique fruit drink.
My personal favourites for entrees are “Buckwheat Blessing” and “Banana Blast.” If I feel like protein, the “Buckwheat Blessing” is a piggies-in-a-blanket plate surrounded by mounds of fresh and somewhat exotic fruit. When I feel like carbo loading, it’s time for the blast of banana and hazelnut-spread filled crepe.
Cora’s locations are so successful that you should expect a queue to get in the door. As you exit, be sure to grab your complimentary piece of fudge. And be sure to grab another piece if members of your party don’t feel like fudge. And if the line to get in is too long, sneak ‘round back and get a piece of that complimentary fudge while you’re waiting.
