| "Corner Brook Jungle Jim's" |

by David (from Orleans) April 2008 - Even though the restaurant was busy with many customers for wild, wacky wing night, it was near closing time so I got my order to go. Jungle Jim’s wasn’t my first choice for dining but it was late on a week night in Corner Brook, Newfoundland. They were open and nearby.
I ordered The Scot N’ Joey burger platter. Joey and Scott were 1980s kids selling us cheddar cheese in television commercials. The sirloin burger is large and burnt, just the way I like it. Top the patty with cheddar, mozzarella, bacon, mayonnaise, lettuce and tomato: large, burnt and messy. The accompanying fries were sad and tired but then it was late at night.
I wanted a milk shake to go with the platter but my counter guy was in training and couldn’t find the dessert list before I spotted the promotional material for the chimi cheesecake caramel apple. When I opened my bag of food and found two sets of utensils and two sets of condiments, it became clear that I had ordered too much food. The dessert chimi was actually six chimichangas. The apple filling and the caramel dip were watery (again, it was late).
The food was yummy, filling and ready to go less than thirty minutes after entering the restaurant.

| "Deep Fried Everything" |

by David (from Orléans) June 2007 - Before Mother’s Day, the Jungle Jim’s promotional material (on the radio and in print) bragged that more Newfoundlanders eat at Jungle Jim’s than anywhere else on Mother’s Day. If that statement is true, a lot of mothers ate a lot of fried food on Mother’s Day. If you are hungry for chicken wings, chicken strips, fish fingers, onion rings, french fries, burgers or tacos, this is the perfect place to go. The portions are adequate and the children’s menu is varied. Just don’t set your sights on any fresh food.
This is one of the few restaurants that will set up in communities where only KFC, McDonalds or Tim Hortons can be found. I visited the original franchise on Torbay Road in St Johns, Newfoundland. The food is good and predictable but fried. Try the stir fry. I have not yet got to a Jungle Jim’s restaurant for the half-priced steak special on a Thursday night.
