"The complete dinning experience"

by Tony (from St. John's)
September 2008 - The ambiance is distinctly Keg, yet the views are breathtakingly Newfoundland. You look out the window at the Atlantic Ocean through the narrows of the oldest city in North America. The vessels tied to the pier remind you of days gone by and the qauint architecture of the many surrounding businesses on water street takes you back to colonial times.
The smiles on the faces of your wait staff are a welcome to your wonderful dinning experience. The staff are a wealth of information on both the daily specials and the local history and excursions.
The food, ahh the food, grilled to perfection everytime, with rubust sides and mouth watering taste, it is indeed exceptional.
The friendly banter with the manager is appreciated and the desert offering is equal to the main course; of course.
The price is comparible to other establishments with similar offerings, but you walk away feeling that you have had the "complete dinning experience".

"Nice location...good food too!"

by Mike (from Calgary)
July 2007 - After a busy day of touring and whale watching at Cape Spear, we needed somewhere nice for a family dinner. We drove by The Keg right on the harbour in downtown St. John's and decided that would be a good place. Because it was early evening, the restaurant was very busy but they were able to accommodate the six of us at a table upstairs. It was a little too warm and muggy upstairs but the view made up for that problem.

I decided to order the old favorite prime rib in the larger portion. It did not disappoint and was delicious. The rest of our dining party thought their meals were nothing spectacular but still quite enjoyable. Our three year old guest was happy with the standby chicken strips with yummy ice cream for dessert. The server was attentive and friendly which is the usual standard for The Keg. I find all Keg restaurants consistent with their good service, cleanliness and quality amounts of tasty food. This location certainly lived up to those past experiences and had the added advantage of a great view to enjoy as well.
