| "See the Sea is worth seeing" |

by mary (from Calgary, Ab) July 2008 - We stayed at See the Sea for 2 nights which ended up being a great choice. The host, made us feel right at home and encouraged us to make her home ours. We scored with our room, which had a spectacular view of the cliffs overlooking the bay, complete with little bar stools and a counter to sit and eat or read (or write this review) and soak in the view. Her balcony offers great views as well, and was a great place to enjoy a cold beer. Lupines grow wild in NFLD, and so I’ve included a picture of Sandy’s lovely lupines on her property. For $80/night, we got our own bathroom (we had to truck downstairs but it was ours, all ours), a queen size bed, a full breakfast of 125-year-old pancakes (you have to taste them to understand!), excellent coffee, sausages, and fruit (all with a view of course). The bed was comfy and the bathroom clean, and the décor eclectic. Torbay is only minutes from the airport which makes it a nice last stop for those not wanting to stay in St. John’s the night before they fly. Excellent hiking trails are steps from the front door which take you all around the bay, complete with signage in spots to describe the extensive history of the area. All in all, this was a great little spot as a base for exploring some of the East side of Avalon Peninsula. I would highly recommend this B and B to anyone looking for a clean stop with a fantastic view.

by Gary (from Calgary, Ab) July 2007 - We were looking for a place to chill for a day or two and the beautiful coast of Torbay seemed to be just the ticket. The lush green hills made their gradual descent to the rocky shore. Our $80.00 room at See the Sea B and B had a big window with a marvelous view of the bay. There was a little table with two stools set in the perfect place to write a review and enjoy the scenery at the same time. See the Sea B and B has three rooms available. Room #1 has the window with the view. Each of the rooms has its own private washroom/shower, but they are downstairs, not in the rooms. Guests are encouraged to enjoy the patio that also features a great view of the cliffs and sea. Our host was a lot of fun to be around, and full of good information. She clearly enjoys people and can banter and joke with the best of them. Be forewarned that if you are on the deck you will probably have a conversation coming your way. Our bed was very comfortable and the room was soundproof enough that we slept well all night. If you stay at this B and B, be prepared to get out of bed and have breakfast at 8:00. (No range from 8 to 10 o’clock, like some B and Bs) It was great that the kitchen is downstairs, so we didn’t hear the breakfast being prepared and that allowed us to sleep a bit longer. Another nice thing about See the Sea is guests can use the Internet free of charge. Breakfast was very good with a fruit salad, coffee and pancakes filled with raisins. We liked See the Sea enough to stay an extra night.
