| "Lunchtime Crowd" |

by Brandy (from Dartmouth) October 2007 - The Pilot’s Pub located in Dartmouth at 10 Atlantic Street seems to be the preferred lunchtime hangout of oil rig labourers, health officials, and, of course, pilots from Canada’s Air Force whose base is just down the street. The restaurant is located in a strip mall but is a prominent establishment. The interior is rather plain but there is a decidedly jovial atmosphere. The back of the restaurant features large windows with a view across the harbour and Halifax’s downtown core. The menu is also plain and contains all the regular sandwiches and burgers you’d ever want. The prices are reasonable and almost all are priced under $10. On this particular occasion the “Pilot Burger” was ordered. It was an average burger served with the works and a sizeable helping of fries. Everyone else at the table ordered various sandwiches including a BLT and a Club. It seemed they too were satisfied with their lunch but no rave reviews were offered. Service during the lunch hour is often slow as it was on this occasion. In order to expedite the billing process we were forced to pay at the bar rather than at the table. The Pilot’s Pub as average food, service, and atmosphere but is always full during lunch. It is worth a try.
