May 2008 - Dharma Sushi is located in the heart of downtown Halifax’s dining and entertainment core. Argyle Street is busy and fun with people criss-crossing the sidewalks in search of a bite to eat and others enjoying the patios available at several restaurants. Dharma has a small patio as it is restricted by it's narrow building footprint. The interior is long and narrow with tables available at either side of the restaurant. The only table with a clear view of the street seats only three comfortably. The service is prompt and friendly and patrons are able to watch some of the food preparation as the kitchen employs a partially open concept. The menu contains an array of sushi, sashimi, bento, and noodle dishes. All items are moderately and similarly priced as compared to the myriad other sushi restaurants in the city. The Spicy Tuna Roll and the Chef’s Special Sushi Selection were especially good. The teriyaki beef meal was also very good and too much for one person to eat. By no means a sushi connoisseur, I thought all the sushi items tasted fresh and vibrant. Dharma Sushi’s food was good but it was not markedly better than other sushi restaurants in the city. Where the restaurant excels is in its choice of location. It is mere steps away from pubs, nightclubs, or other before or after dinner choices.
