August 2008 - Morris East is a trendy pizza place that has a look and feel of the more established Jane’s on the Common. It is located east of downtown just up from busy Barrington. It is easy to miss, as the restaurant front is flush with the building’s façade. The interior is sleek and filled with trendy furniture. The chairs are comfortable but there is not much of a view of the street outside. The menu is trim and features gourmet pizzas and special daily selections. Our group chose some flatbread and dip for an appetizer and two specialty pizzas for dinner. We devoured the bread and dips. Both were made fresh. The pizzas contained very high quality ingredients. I thought they were very good but the more selective members of the party thought they were just okay. The pizzas we ordered were about $15 and most are either $13 or $16: a fairly reasonable price for a wood fired restaurant style pizza. I recommend Morris East as a cool place to drink and eat but the rest of my dinning party would disagree and would rather pass up another chance to go there.
