| "Great Thai Taste" |
|
|
by Brandy (from Dartmouth) July 2007 - Located in downtown Halifax at 1261 Barrington Street, Talay Thai Restaurant met all expectations for great Thai food. This restaurant was recently transformed into a typical restaurant from a commercial pottery café. The décor and ambiance was not particularly authentic but was passable. The menu contained several choices and featured various pad thai and curry dishes. Dinner commenced with two appetizers: thai peanut chicken skewers and fresh spring rolls. Both were excellent and the sauces provided with each were even noticeably savoury. Three mains were shared amongst two couples: a spicy beef dish, a vegetarian pad thai, and a red curry chicken. A side of rice was also ordered. All three entrees tasted fantastic and each were finished to the last morsel of food and drop of sauce. The service was acceptable but it was a bit slow, probably due to the number of restaurant patrons present. Reservations were made and are recommended for future visits. There was a steady stream of people waiting for open tables. Prices were also excellent. After tax the price per person was only fifteen dollars. The taste of the thai food at this restaurant warrants a return engagement.
