November 2007 - The Trapeze restaurant located in the former T.G.I.Friday spot in the Halifax Casino is just what you would expect of a dining establishment meant to draw in casino goers and spit them back out to spend more money on the slot machines. The hostess setup at the front of the restaurant explains a lot about the dining experience at Trapeze. There seemed to be three hostesses to greet and seat people but few actual servers. Our service was very nice and personable but slow due to the inordinate number of tables she was responsible for. The speed of the service was not increased by the difficulties associated with the complex system of casino card points which the restaurant seems to trade for cash off the final food bill. We just wanted some good pub-type food and we were hungry. We ordered the appetizer sampler and the vegetarian pizza. The pizza was good and the appetizer platter was enormous but very, very greasy. It tasted good but the grease really was pooling on the plate. We ate wings, nachos, breaded cheese fingers, and some other greasy item. The food tasted good but was obviously not healthy. It was also relatively cheap, as was everything else on the menu. The appetizer sample was $14 and the pizza was only $9. I do not recommend this restaurant but if you plan on spending an entire night in the casino, it is close by.
