September 2007 - Roadside Willies Smokehouse & Bar is known for its funny looking namesake, Willie, and its generally fun time that is presented to customers. The restaurant is a little bit tricky to find but is easily identified by its caricature of Willie. The menu contains standard pub food and there is always a daily special. On this particular day, the special was Sirloin steak with salad offered 2-for-1. At only $14 before tax it was an incredible deal. The steak was cooked just right and was juicy, not tough. The beer was also cheap at less than $4 for glasses of domestic. The service was very courteous and added to the fun atmosphere. Sometimes Willie, a friend of the owner, is present. If he is, it is worth introducing yourself. Apparently, he is quite funny. Roadside Willies is quite a drive outside Halifax but it is worth a stop if traveling along the highway into or out of Halifax
