July 2007 - We are always looking for convenience and we found it at a relatively cheap price in Nelson. The campground is small, and therefore geared more to tents than RVs. It had probably less than 10 spaces for RVs and about 25 spaces for tents. This meant that the sites were small, but each still had a table and ours was flat and grassy, so relatively soft and the tent stayed clean. The free wireless internet available in the shower, laundry and kitchen block was a great bonus to us, we simply obtained a password from the staff. It didn’t work at first but they were very helpful and after about 15 minutes we were fully able to plug into the power supply, connect and surf to our hearts content. We used the laundry facility that was reasonably priced and made our breakfast while we surfed. The bathrooms were clean and well maintained and we used the showers that were included in the price too.
From the campground we walked east to a Safeway supermarket within 10 minutes and were also able to walk down to the riverfront and then east along it towards the main bridge crossing the river. The downtown was a little further at 20-25 minutes but a charming way to see more of Nelson. If you don’t mind small campsites this was a little gem.
