January 2008 - Stayed for around three weeks in January after travelling from Australia through Asia and this was the first place that felt like home. Huge great kitchen, big laundry, classy loungeroom and frinedly people and staff. I was even able to bum a ride to the slopes with the owners a few times. They know the area very well and have plenty of advice from hot springs to garlic eateries. We stayed in a double room upstairs with a stunning lake view. Well worth a visit...

September 2007 - My memories of hostels from travelling in Eruope in the 1980s were not great, but I gave this place a go when travelling through North America wiith my family recently. The WhiteHouse changed my opinion about staying in hostels - it is super clean, warm, inviting, very friendly staff, and the heritage rooms nicer than a lot of hotels I've stayed in. It was like a guesthouse or B&B, but offered more services, like the kitchen & travel resources. I highly recommend the WhiteHouse for any age.
