August 2008 - I had the chance to visit this pub twice while in Nelson for a holiday. The only reason I went twice is that it is about three blocks from where I was staying. The pub is not great, but isn't bad. I had been here a few years ago, but the ownership has now changed. I can't really tell what changed, the atmosphere is exactly the same and the menu still serves the same type of food - pizza, appetizers, burgers, sandwiches, entrees etc.
When we visited it the first time we sat on the patio and just ordered some nachos and had a couple beers. The nachos were quite big and very cheesy. We ordered some guacamole on the side, it was okay but it was just the stuff that comes out of the container from the grocery store. The beers were tasty - we chose to try a couple of locally-brewed beers by the Nelson Brewery. The service was also good.
On our second visit we ended up getting the nachos again because they were on special for $5.95! I guess this is a special on both Fridays and Sundays. For our main course we ordered a pizza, which was satisfactory, but not anything to write home about. The server was a friendly girl who was quite attentive, however, the pub wasn't overly busy. In fact, during our two visits it seemed like it was more of an elderly clientele, not a party spot or a popular hangout. It's a shame because the pub has potential, it just needs to be renovated and have a more happening atmosphere.

September 2006 - I recently visited Bogustown while in Nelson during the September long weekend. We headed over around 9:30pm or so and were surpised to find the place pretty dead. In fact, there was one table on the patio and one other table inside. It picked up slightly by the time we left, but it was so dead that they were only offering appetizers and pizzas off their menu. The bartender was very friendly and I think he was both cooking the food and serving the drinks. We ordered chicken wings and potato skins. Neither were anything to write home about. However, the drinks and food hit the spot.
