| "A Fantastic cup of coffee" |
|
|
by Tanya (from Calgary) August 2007 - During a recent camping trip in the Kootenay's, we spent a day in Nelson and went to Oso Negro to try the coffee that came highly recommended to us. The environmentally aware coffee shop serves primarily organic and fair trade coffee and will charge you 25 cents extra for a paper to go cup. This is a refreshing awareness to find in a coffee shop. The building is centrally located a block off Baker Street. It is a wood building filled with original art, plants and comfortable tables. It is a welcoming and comfortable building and if I lived in Nelson, I would likely spend a lot of time there. There is a fabulous patio out the back where benches are set up for people to sit and enjoy their coffee. The coffee is strong and very tasty. They sell whole bean coffee there as well for people to be able to take the coffee home with them. I had the breakfast sandwhich which had eggs, cheese and a special sauce served warm on a fresh bun. Although simple, it was a very good meal and was very reasonably priced. They had lots of baked goods that looked healthy and home made. If you are in the Nelson region, be sure to stop by Oso Negro for a meal or at the very least, a fabulous cup of coffee.
