July 2008 - On our way to Nelson from Calgary, we decided to spend the night in Cranbrook, which is roughly halfway. We had stayed at the Super 8 Cranbrook seven years ago and remember being satisfied, so decided to check it out again. A main factor in our picking this hotel was that they accept pets, no matter what size. We have a big dog, so that was a great benefit. Also, they offered some packages through their website, including the one that we got... room and a pizza from Domino's for $99.
Upon arrival, the lady that checked us in was very nice and friendly. We were staying on the second floor in a non-smoking room. The main floor appeared to have smoking rooms and I would recommend requesting a room on the second floor because you could really smell the smoke in the hallway in the morning.
The room itself exceeded our expectations. It had two queen-sized beds, a large-screen TV, a table with chairs, a microwave and a fridge. The bathroom and room were very clean. The thing that we loved most about the room was the bed. It was very comfortable and the pillows were too. I think it was even more comfortable than our bed at home.
Another big benefit for pet owners is that there is an old RV park right next door that is semi-fenced and is a great place to let your dog run around.
In the morning I went down to get my wife and I some food off the continental buffet. I had some oatmeal, she had a carrot muffin and there were also some juices available. It was all very good.
When we went to check out it was the same friendly lady from the night before! She works some crazy hours! The Super 8 Cranbrook was definitely worth the money and was better than expected. We will definitely stay there again when passing through Cranbrook.
