by Lauren (from Calgary) July 2007 - On a quick trip to BC with a friend to visit her family, a few of us stopped in to Finnegan's Irish Pub for dinner on a Saturday night. Our friend is from Cranbrook and recommended the pub as a good place to get a bite and have some fun with locals on a weekend. It was busy when we got there but wasn't packed yet, although I expect it would have gotten even busier later in the evening.
While Finnegan's is an Irish pub, it looks pretty much the same as any other pub in a smallish town with the exception that there were some Guiness ads up and lots of announcements about how many days there are left until St. Paddy's day. There are lots of TVs to watch major sporting events and I bet this place is popular during hockey season.
We shared a couple of pitchers of domestic beer, which was quite cheap. The menu is full of typical pub fare, including nachos, wings are burgers. The best thing is that they've got a number of burgers with different toppings available, and ptrons can choose between beef or veggie patties, which was great for those of us who are vegetarian. We all ended up getting the pub's specialty burger, which is topped with just about everything included cheese and hot peppers. They come with a side of either salad or fries and I got fries. Everything tasted great and we were all very satisfied with our meals.
